Esteban J. Quiñones
I am a Researcher at Mathematica (formerly Mathematica Policy Research). I joined Mathematica's International Division in the summer of 2019 to work on an expanding international research portfolio and cross-cutting Climate Change Practice.

I completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2019 where I was also a Predoctoral Trainee at the Center for Demography and Ecology.
My fields of interest include development economics, migration, demography, gender, rural development, social protection, climate change and labor economics.
My research portfolio focuses on poverty and the roles that households and government policies play in alleviating deprivation, with an emphasis on (i) the determinants and impacts of migration and (ii) the heterogeneity attributable to gender.
As a Predoctoral Trainee at the Center for Demography and Ecology, I received funding from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NICHD-T32). I was also a Fellow with the Science and Medicine Graduate Research Scholars (SciMed GRS). My principal advisor in Agricultural and Applied Economics was Bradford L. Barham while my advisor at the Center for Demography and Ecology was Jenna Nobles.
